WhatsApp will soon add a upload limit

WhatsApp has launched many new features in the chat application, including message comments, the Community tab, language options, and more, but that's not the end of it. Meta-proprietary messenger is currently testing the ability to upload 2 GB of files in the latest beta version.

As always, no one but WABetaInfo will find this function. It is only available for a limited selection of South American beta testers currently running on Android versions 2.22.8.5, 2.22.8.6 and 2.22.8.7, such as iOS. This is a big upgrade from the previous 100 MB upload limit. Once WhatsApp releases this new upload limit, competing applications can adjust their own upload limits. For example, Gmail currently has a upload limit of 25 MB, but Twitter is more generous with 1 GB.

These new upload limits will greatly benefit from modern smartphones, which can produce large images and videos thanks to the high number of megapixels. These files must be compressed before being sent to WhatsApp or other chat applications. The new upload limit will preserve the quality of great videos and other media. Because the feature is only available in limited beta versions, it may take some time to release it worldwide. We will update this space as more information becomes available.
