Shafqat Mahmood inauguroval CoE of Modern Technology na NAVTTC

Federal Education and Training Minister Shafqat Mahmood inaugurated the Center for Excellence (CoE) in Modern Technology at the National Commission for Vocational and Technical Training (NAVTTC) in Islamabad on Friday.

The center will provide training to head coaches and master coaches who will train young people in the modern technologies available. It will also pave the way for the involvement of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Pakistan in order to continuously improve the provision of training and assessment, career guidance and placement.

At the opening ceremony, the Minister emphasized the need to set up more centers of interest to provide young people with the latest technological education. This is high demand internationally and in industry, he explained. The Minister said that the government gave the TVET sector the highest priority and Rs. 10 billion under the Kamyab Jawan program. He said the government continued to give high priority to skills training, especially in artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security and more.

He informed the public that the NAVTTC government had set itself the goal of producing one million skilled youth workers, and the availability of such a large skilled workforce could lead to a huge impetus in the labor market and industry.

"The government is working to reform the TVET sector to bring technical and vocational training in line with market requirements, with the aim of creating staff accredited by international agencies," he concluded.

NAVTTC President Syed Javed Hasan said NAVTTC is working with its training partners to improve quality in the TVET sector. He said the NAVTTC currently successfully trained 74,736 young people in 150 hi-tech and 100 conventional technologies with 71 percent employment. Another group of 63,000 young people provided training skills to 989 training partners and renowned universities. 95 percent of young people expressed satisfaction with the quality of education at NAVTTC. He mentioned that the government's Skills for All strategy works as a factor in providing quality youth training.
